FAQs

Q:  Therapy feels like a big step to me.  What can I expect?

A:  Asking for help from a professional you don’t know can sometimes feel scary. But working with a therapist you come to trust can help you sort through your feelings and discover a path to relief from the problems you are facing.

Q: How often do we meet?

A: We usually meet once a week for about 50 minutes.  If you’re going through a really tough time, we can meet more frequently.  As things get better, we might meet less often. I can provide options to meet your individual needs.

Q: How long will it take?

A: If things are going well, and you just need a little help to get through a rough time, therapy can be pretty brief.  If you’re struggling with some tougher issues and you want to get to a much better place, it might mean more sessions.  You decide.

My overall goal for you will be to put you on a course of positive well-being. Therapy is a flexible process, however, involving us working together. And together we will determine how long therapy will last. We can talk about it any time.

Q: Do you have a sliding scale?

A: Yes.  I try to make my services affordable to a wide range of people. Depending on my caseload, I sometimes have sliding scale slots available.  This means I am willing to talk about a fee reduction if this is something you need.

Q:  Is therapy confidential?

A:  Yes. The law and professional ethics protect the privacy and confidentiality of the relationship between a client and therapist, and information you share cannot be disclosed without your written permission to do so. There are, however, certain exceptions to this: for example, child or elder abuse.

Q:   Do you accept insurance?

A:   I am an out-of-network provider. However, many common insurance carriers with PPO plans will reimburse a good amount toward our work together. Please read more details on rates and insurance.
